Auckland Ferry Terminal Pontoons Auckland Ferry Terminal Pontoons Auckland Ferry Terminal Pontoons SPIIND is currently building nine floating pontoon structures ranging in size up to 40m long x 16m wide and each weighing up to 175 Tonnes. These structures are being fabricated and assembled in SPIIND's Ruakaka workshop with some sub assemblies coming from SPIIND's Tauranga workshop. On completion of fabrication, the pontoons are transported to SPIIND's painting facility at Marsden Point before being transported and craned to the sea at Northport. The pontoons are then towed by sea to Auckland Queens Wharf where they are bolted together and final fitout is completed. When all in place the pontoons will form the new Auckland City Ferry Terminal Docking points and passenger loading platforms. Read more
